Meet Glitches: The Cybernetic Super Mutt Who Knows Better

Misfit File 006: THE CYBERNETIC SUPER MUTT
Brilliant mind. Questionable assembly.

Glitches · Misfit File 006. Brilliant mind. Questionable assembly.

Name: Glitches

Nickname: The Armchair Mastermind. The armchair is occasionally compulsory.

Breed / experiment: Chihuahua/Pomeranian/SuperMutt enhanced with cybernetics, a commanding intellect, and insufficient quality control.

Occupation: Chief Strategist. Unsolicited Engineering Critic. Principal Cause of the Doctor’s Coffee Consumption.

Greatest achievement: Successfully calculated the perfect escape from Spires Claw Laboratory. Current whereabouts: Spires Claw Laboratory.

Complication: His compelling mind can bend weaker minds to his will. His own limbs remain remarkably unreceptive.

Fatal flaw: Plans for every conceivable obstacle except the entirely new malfunction his circuitry is about to invent.

Nervous reaction: Begins listing contingency plans with increasing precision while his mechanical hand clicks involuntarily. Insists the clicking is applause.

Threat level: Intellectually formidable. Mechanically intermittent. Keep biscuits elevated and sensitive egos out of reach.

Catchphrase: “Nada Operado.”

Official incident report:

Subject submitted a meticulously illustrated plan to retrieve one biscuit from the laboratory’s highest shelf. Calculations accounted for shelf height, floor friction, the Doctor’s movements, and six possible escape routes.

The operation failed at the commencement of walking.

Subject’s cybernetic leg locked on the first step, depositing him gently onto a folded laboratory coat. When asked whether he required assistance, subject replied:

“Only with the machinery. The thinking is complete.”

During repairs, subject repeatedly advised Dr. Franken-Fur that the proposed adjustment would not work.

The Doctor proceeded.

Subject’s mechanical arm rose, pointed directly at the Doctor, and refused to lower.

“Nada Operado.”

“Your arm?” asked the Doctor.

“Your brain.”

Repairs were suspended pending coffee.

Subject subsequently requested that the biscuit be brought down “for evidence.”

Doctor’s closing notation:
“The experiment has developed exceptional reasoning. I am beginning to question mine.”

A brilliant mind. A questionable assembly.

Experiment 006 was meant to be Dr. Franken-Fur’s great intellectual triumph: a cybernetic canine capable of anticipating danger, executing flawless operations, and bending weaker minds to his will.

The intelligence was magnificent.

The obedience had never arrived.

Glitches possessed a mind so commanding that, when he fixed his gaze on a susceptible subject and spoke, an unreasonable suggestion could become strangely persuasive. He carried himself with the assurance of a creature accustomed to getting his way.

Then a joint would seize.

It is difficult to sustain an atmosphere of irresistible authority while waiting for someone to straighten your elbow.

The perfect plan, pending leg approval

Glitches compensated by planning everything.

Distances. Angles. Distractions. Escape routes. The exact moment the Doctor would turn away to complain about somebody else.

His latest objective was a biscuit on the highest shelf.

He had calculated the approach perfectly.

He stepped forward.

His leg locked.

He tipped gently onto a folded laboratory coat.

The Doctor looked down.

“An oversight?”

“A manufacturing defect.”

The Doctor’s smallest engineering critic

For all his attitude, Glitches kept returning to the workbench. Beneath the arguments was a rather inconvenient truth: he trusted the Doctor to keep trying.

And the Doctor did.

He complained. He reached for another tool. He moved his coffee out of the sparks.

When he lifted Glitches back onto the bench, he folded the coat beneath him first.

“Now,” said the Doctor, “hold still.”

Glitches glanced at his locked leg.

“At last. An instruction your engineering supports.”

Meet Glitches, the cybernetic super mutt, in LilTuki’s Howl-O-Ween Misfits: a brilliant mind, a questionable assembly, and quite possibly the biggest reason Dr. Franken-Fur remains caffeinated.

Meet the other Howl-O-Ween Misfits.

One scientist. Too many monsters. Absolutely no obedience training.
