The Dream of the Golden Palm: A Tuki & Donkey Adventure

The mist smelled of cedarwood and ancient dust. Tuki blinked his dark, soulful eyes, finding himself standing in a sun-drenched village square. Beside him stood his stout, grey friend, Donkey, flicking a long ear at a passing butterfly.

Suddenly, the air shimmered. Two men with weathered hands and kind faces—the Apostles—approached them. They weren’t seeking massive stallions; instead they looked straight at Donkey.

“The Master has need of him,” one Apostle whispered.

Tuki’s tail didn’t just wag; it vibrated. His little heart nearly leaped out of his chest. Jesus chose Donkey? His humble, steady friend was to be the mount for the King? Tuki let out a soft, melodic version of his rumble—not a warning this time, but a purr of absolute pride.

    The Royal Procession

As they reached the gates of Jerusalem, the world exploded into color. Tuki took his position exactly where you’d expect: two paces ahead of Donkey’s front hooves, his “bounce trot” fully activated.

    The scene was breathtaking.

    • The Light: A celestial, golden glow poured from the clouds, catching the silver in Donkey’s mane and making Jesus’ robe seem woven from the sun itself.
    • The Path: Great shimmering silks and emerald-green palm fronds were laid down like a living carpet. Tuki felt the soft texture of the robes beneath his paws—a far cry from his usual fuzzy bed.

    The Intrigue in the Crowd

In true yorkie fashion, Tuki stayed alert. While the crowd shouted “Hosanna! “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”, Tuki suddenly noticed a small commotion, the dust was disturbed and there a tall, skinny, stray street dog—a dusty lurcher three times Tuki’s size—was sniffing suspiciously at the edge of the palm fronds, It was evident that the intruder was mischievous and crouched in a hunting stance. As Tuki looked ahead, he was sure he was going to startle Donkey by darting across the path.

Tuki didn’t bark; that would be disrespectful in the presence of the King. Instead, he deployed his low guttural, Grizzled Growl.

It started in his tiny little paws and vibrated up through his body into his larynx—a low, vibrating urrr-rrr-rhummb that sounded like distant thunder. The street dog froze, eyes wide, seeing a tiny Yorkie radiating the protective energy of a lion. It was as if the intruder and Tuki were alone in battle, suddenly the unwanted intruder slithered away into the shadows, and the path stayed clear.

    The Moment of Honor

As they moved deeper into the city, Jesus reached down resting a hand briefly on Donkey’s neck, then glanced down with a smile at the tiny, little sentry leading the way.

Tuki felt a warmth spread through him that no sunlamp could ever match. He wasn’t just a tiny pup; he was a witness. He trotted higher on his little paws, his head held high, proud to be the smallest solider in the greatest parade in history.

The “4lbs of fury” had found its highest calling: guarding the Prince of Peace.

    The Awakening

As the golden light of the Jerusalem gates began to shimmer and fade, Tuki felt the softest of sensations—a warm ray of the Sultana sunrise hitting his fuzzy ears. He blinked, his paws twitching one last time in his sleep as if he were still treading on silk robes.

He awoke in his bed with a heart that felt twice its usual size, overflowing with a renewed, bubbling joy. The dream hadn’t just been a story; it felt like a promise. He didn’t wait for his morning stretch. With a burst of energy and pure excitement he raced out the door to the pasture.

    A Shared Secret

He found Donkey laying on a patch of grass near the barn, the morning dew still damp on his grey coat. Tuki spun in circles, his tail a blur, telling his friend—through a series of urgent wags and soft, melodic rumbles—all about the wonderful journey they had shared. He told him about the Apostles, the palm fronds, and the way the Master’s hand had felt on Donkey’s neck.

Donkey lowered his head, letting out a soft, knowing huff that ruffled Tuki’s silky coat. It was as if Donkey had shared the same dream of his tiny little friend!

They spent the morning prancing together in the field, the upcoming week of Easter stretching out before them like a gift. As the sun climbed higher over the valley, they both delighted in the simple, profound truth they had carried back from the dream: that whether in sleep or under the wide blue sky, they were protected, they were honored, and they were deeply, eternally loved.
